I sketched Big Toy at Newhalen on Lake Iliamna. The salmon are being dried for winter subsistence. On the left hangs a polka-dot bag containing fresh salmon roe which is being cured for caviar. This red salmon caviar is delicious and is becoming a popular delicacy. Any salmon eggs will work but the chum and king eggs make the best caviar.
