I spent a summer month in Unalaska on the Aleutian Chain not long ago and was amazed at the huge population of bald eagles. There are no trees on the island so the eagles nest on the ground.

“They’re here for the good fishing” I was told. I was planning to do a painting of the small town’s magnificent Russian Church but could not do so without featuring the eagles which were everywhere.
