This
small jewel of a church, St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox, is
located in the heart of Juneau, only a few blocks down the
hill from my house. Come Sunday mornings, I can hear her bells
chiming, calling the congregation to gather for the early
morning service.
Ive
painted this church many times. The first time I painted it
was 1951 and I gave the original to my landlord. A few years
ago he gave it back. He said he was heading to the Alaska
Pioneers Home and didnt have use for it
any more.
