The
Russian Orthodox Church at Ninilchik (pop. 597) is perched high
on a hill overlooking the small fishing village in a half moon
bay on Cook Inlet. The official name is The Transfiguration
of Our Lord Russian Orthodox Church and services began
in 1846. In late summer the fireweed surrounds this beautiful
church. The red cat followed me around as I was sketching and
thus became part of the painting.
