2001 RELEASE SCHEDULE

Check out the February 2001 Rie Munoz releases in our catalog under prints. They are "Solitaire" and "Baranof Apartments, Sitka." The release day for these two prints is Tuesday, February 13, 2001. They are both 750 editions. The tentative release schedule for 2001 and the beginning of 2002 will be as follows:

RIE AND MERCEDES ATTEND THE NUTCRACKER

Rie Munoz and her granddaughter, Mercedes, attended the ballet, The Nutcracker Suite performed by the Pacific Northwest Ballet in Seattle, December 12. They were joined by friends from Juneau, Judy Crondahl and her granddaughter, Katherine, and another granny/granddaughter set from Kansas. Together they stayed at the Hostel International, Seattle, in a room with three double beds. All the girls slept in the top bunks and the grandmas slept in the bottom bunks. Other activities included a ride on the monorail, a visit to SAM and of course FAO Schwartz. The play was magnificent and the group was treated to backstage passes.

CHRISTMAS IN TENAKEE

Rie Munoz spent Christmas and the following week in Tenakee Springs enjoying her cabin recently renovated. She was accompanied by family members, Cathy, Mercedes, and Juan who have a cabin a short walk away. Rie sketched, painted and enjoyed Tenakee.

Rie’s granddaughter, Mercedes, age 8, wrote Santa a heartfelt letter asking for only one thing, a small hamster to replace one that died last year. She knew I didn’t like the rodents but she believed that if there was a Santa, he would come through for her. We all left on the ferry at 2:00 am Christmas morning. The ferry arrived in Tenakee at 10:00am. Well, miracle upon miracles there was a small hamster waiting for her under the tree. Mercedes was thrilled with ‘Hammy’ and we brought him home to Juneau. The next night however he escaped by climbing up the water bottle holder and slipped into a wall vent in our kitchen. We have food and water waiting where he slipped in, but as of this printing, ‘Hammy’ is still at large, scratching his way around the bowels of our home. We hope ‘he’ is not pregnant...
