The silkscreen by Rie Munoz, entitled "Ice Fishing" was a huge success! This stunning silkscreen is being described as Rie's best since "Polar Bear and Fox". This will probably be the only Munoz silkscreen release in 1999. By now you should have received the catalog sheet featuring the February releases by Rie Munoz. Entitled, "Whales in the Inlet" and "Bush Transportation", both offset lithographs are limited to an edition of 750. We will release these prints on Wednesday, February 17, 1999.
The following is a tentative release schedule for Rie Munoz art in 1999. It's going to be a great year! January 29 February 17 - Two prints:
NOVEMBER
6, 1999 THROUGH JANUARY 2, 2000-- Rie Munoz has been nominated for an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree from the University of Alaska S.E. This honor is given only once a year to an individual who has demonstrated evidence of a significant and lasting contribution to the University or the State of Alaska, or to the individual's discipline or profession. The Office of the Chancellor and the Board of Regents will present the honorary degree on Friday, May 8 at the commencement ceremonies in Juneau. Rie was very excited, especially when she was informed she didn't have to give a speech. If she does give one it will be short, she assures us! It is that time of year when Rie Munoz heads to her cabin on Orcas Island for a month or two. She and her dog, Muncie, joined by Juneau friends who have a cabin next to hers, drove down from Bellingham a couple of weeks ago. Rie brought some unfinished originals that she will complete while on Orcas as well as starting a few new ones. RIE'S
