Muñoz has donated her image, "Both the Sun and Moon Belong
to Women" to the Northwest Girlchoir of Seattle for the center
art piece of their 2001-2002 concert season. Rie Muñoz has
been invited to the Girlchoir concert on November 30 at the new Benaroya
theater. Muñoz will sign posters before the concert and during
intermission. Call 1-206-985-3973 for tickets.
Rie Muñoz has dedicated 100 prints of "Ice Skaters" to the University of Alaska Southeast Noyes Pavilion project. The matted prints will be given to those donating $1,000 or more to the Pavilion campaign. The outdoor pavilion on the shore of Auke Lake will be used by both the campus and the community for performances and presentations. The facility will be built among the gigantic spruce trees that surround the campus with magnificent views of the Mendenhall Glacier.
"This is a tremendous gesture of support," said UAS Chancellor John Pugh. "The pavilion is being funded entirely by private donations, so a commemorative gift by such a renowned local artist fits very well with the local nature of the pavilion."
The pavilion is named after John Noyes, an Alaskan Adjutant General who died in a plane crash near Nome in 1956.
The tentative release schedule for 2001 and the beginning of 2002 is as follows:
